The Purpose of Life – Demystified

Enlightenment can or can’t be the purpose of life

Some people think that moksha (Salvation or enlightenment) is the purpose of life. But if you make it purpose then again you are mistaken. You miss the point. Because purpose can be achieved but Moksha is a state of mind. You can’t achieve it. You reach this state of mind only with no mind.

No mind where all the beliefs and knowledge is dropped and you reach to the ultimate state where you become one with the entire existence. This is the only possible when you live with totality. You live but you don’t get involved with the activities. You stay centered and keep on moving on the outer surface while spinning on your axis.

Let me share a story with you to make my point clearer.

Once there were two friends named Hari and Rama. Both of them were quite rich. They were very fond of each other. But their nature was quite opposite to each other. Hari used to like spending money on all kind of luxurious things. But, Rama preferred to save the money and followed a lifestyle like poor people. Hari always thought that we should have everything that we can afford, yet Rama believed that we should spend as much as we needed.

One day, they were called upon by a common friend. He invited them to someplace. When they reached there they saw two houses. Both the houses were exact same big as castles. Their friend asked them to enter different houses separately/alone without any further details.

When they entered, they found all kind of luxuries, foods, and clothes inside that one can imagine.

Rama got very excited and enjoyed all the food and luxury available there. But, Hari got confused about what purpose his friend has sent him into that house. He became suspicious. He started looking here and there. He searched everywhere but couldn’t find anything.

After some time passed both realized that they should leave for their home now, otherwise they will get late. Both Hari and Rama came out of the houses. Their friend was still waiting for them there. Out of curiosity, they asked him about why he invited them and sent into those houses. The friend replied that he invested the money which he borrowed from both of them in business. It proved to be profitable. So that day in those houses full of luxury and food was a gift from his side.

Rama got very happy and appreciated his idea of surprise. Yet Hari was bothered. Instead of enjoying the luxury and food provided, Hari spent time in searching for the purpose and missed the opportunity.

I believe this story can make you understand better that you miss the life while looking for its purpose. So start living fully and don’t let the idea of finding purpose make you miss this opportunity.
